The Alphonse group of atolls now falls under the jurisdiction of the Island Conservation Society (ICS), a Seychelles based conservation non-governmental organisation (NGO). In partnership with the Island Development Company, the ICS is in charge of the conservation of all the outer islands in the Seychelles, with the exception of Aldabra.

With clear commitment to a charter of sound conservation principles, the team at Alphonse Resort will focus on adding real value and necessary protection to the Alphonse group of atolls while providing an educational and fun filled experience for our guests.

This strong conservation approach focuses not only on the catching of the fish, but more importantly on the successful releasing of the fish and therefore our activities include the following:

The most effective revival and release methods are employed to minimise air exposure and stress on the fish and most importantly, to avoid predation on the released fish.
The strength of terminal tackle is regulated so that fish are landed as quickly as possible.
Only barbless flies are used.
No teasing and chumming of fish.

This approach will continually be guided and shaped as further research, experience and empirical knowledge becomes available.

Considered a flyanglers paradise, the Alphonse group of atolls boasts numerous attributes that make it unique in the enticing world of flats flyfishing. The atolls of Alphonse and St Francois are home to incredibly large populations of bonefish that provide enjoyment to novice and experienced flyanglers alike. The variety of species in our waters provides an opportunity rarely found in the in the world. It is possible to target three different types of trigger fish (Yellow Margin, Giant and Picasso), eight species of trevally (Giant, Bluefin, Brassy, Bigeye, Yellow dot, Golden, Black and Fulvie), snappers, groupers, African pompano ( Indo Pacific permit), parrot fish and of course our incomparable milkfish (Chanos chanos).

One of the largest concentrations of crustaceans in the Indian Ocean occurs in the atoll of St Francois and is the prime food source for many of these target species. This spectacular wilderness has ten thousand acres of white sand flats providing wading flyanglers with world class site fishing. Rods are limited to ten in order to maintain the exclusivity and sustainability of this fishery.
To ensure that guests have the flyfishing experience of a lifetime, an international team of knowledgeable guides and experienced management are on hand to share both our passion for this unique fishery and its environment.

It is our wish that all visitors to this remote and pristine group of atolls will be enriched and humbled by their experience of visiting some of the best flats flyfishing on this planet.
